Portsmouth: Give us a day. We'll give you a vacation.
pectacular Spectacles | Through Oct. 19
For thousands of people, spectacles bring the world into focus, yet few people understand how eyeglasses work and would be surprised by the variations in their use as they developed. Early spectacles from China were thought to improve one’s sight in both a physical and spiritual sense. Western spectacles were designed to accommodate fashion, serve vanity, hide failing eyesight or simply to spy on others. Spectacular Spectacles is an exhibit featuring over 300 spectacles and vision aids from around the world. Created by the Museum of Vision and toured by Smith Kramer Fine Art Services.
