Nov. 16: 12th Annual Olde Towne Arts & Antiques Open House – One of the most highly attended occasions of the year, this Olde Towne Business Association event is the traditional kick off to the holiday season. Enjoy antique cars on exhibit and windows painted with old-fashioned holiday themes by Portsmouth students. Holiday treats, refreshments and music provided in many of the antique shops, art galleries and specialty stores. Look for Yuletide displays in a number of merchants’ windows. 5-10 p.m.

Nov. 16: Jazz at the Courthouse Galleries – In celebration of the Olde Towne Arts and Antiques Open House and the opening of “Winter Wonderland: The Coleman Collection,” Reggie Gist will perform from 6 to 9 p.m.

Nov. 16: Life Is A Buffet, So Save Room for Dessert: A Book Signing by Polly D. Boyette – Author to sign copies of her book, a collection of humorous short stories experienced by Boyette, who reminds us how to laugh at ourselves, even at our most embarrassing and humiliating times. 6-8 p.m.

Nov. 16: CHKD’s 25th Annual Holly Festival of Trees: A Black-Tie Gala – This formal affair, featuring a live and silent auction, is one of the largest fundraisers for the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters. More than 45 beautifully decorated trees, enchanting gingerbread creations, and spectacular wreaths – all designed by local artists, chefs, businesses, and community groups – will be auctioned to the highest bidders. All proceeds benefit CHKD. $80 per person includes heavy hors d’ oeuvres, open bar, live entertainment, and the opportunity to bid. 7-11 p.m.

Nov 16: CHKD’s Holly Festival of Trees: Luncheon and Fashion Show – Includes a gourmet lunch and runway fashion show featuring fashions by Dillard’s, plus a silent auction of high-end handbags. $40 per person. 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
